Daily needs: Within walking distance you will find a Boulangerie, Supermarket, Hairdresser, Bank, Post office, Restaurants/Bistros, Bars, Doctor, Dentist, Police Municipale etc. Our house is located in a quiet residential area but close to all ammenities and you will not have to use your car to get a fresh croissant in the morning.
Medieval path (Circuit Médieval): The Medievial path starts just 3-4 minutes walking from our house. It visits the four main historical sites on the hills just south of the center: Collegiale Saint-Martin, Chapelle des Trois Croix, Maison de la Tour, Maison Cardinale.
Town hall: The central square of the town is Place Henri Reynaud de la Gardette with its imposing town hall (Hotel de Ville). The square was created in 1880, followed by the neorenaissance Hotel de Ville, built in the image of the Hotel de Ville of Paris.
Collègiale Saint Martin: In the southwestern part of the town (150 m from the house) is a 17th-century chapel sitting in the middle of an open park. From the edge of the park you have a terrific view out across the countryside.
Shopping: By car it takes a few minutes only to reach lots of shops like L'Eclerq, Decathlon, Action, GiFi, BUT, Casa, Kiabi, Tridome, etc, and services like: car service garages, petrol stations, car wash, telecomunication providers, fastfood chaines, etc.
Chateau de Suze-la-Rousse: Within 10 minutes drive you can head to the Chateau de Suze-la-Rousse which also hosts the French vine university. It is defintely worth a visit. Not much further is also the Chateau de Grignan. You can find further info and opening timings on the webiste of the Chateaux.
Mornas: Built on a rocky outcrop, it overlooks the village of Mornas at its feet and offers incomparable views over the Rhône River, which in the past let travellers avoid the country roads and the highway robbers. Already mentioned in the 9th century under the name of "Rupea Morenata", the fortress, probably built in wood, was there to protect the village of Mornas.
Ardèche river: The Ardèche is a very well known river and near to our house it merges with the Rhône. Spectacular views are guaranteed and kayaking is a must. A bit further up the river you can reach the famous ".
La Garde d'Adhemar: This village of the Drôme Provençale, built on a hill, dominates the Pierrelatte plain on the left bank of the Rhône. Surrounded by its ramparts, the village has conserved all its medieval architecture. It got its name from the Adhémar family, who for a long time made up a formidable dynasty. Visitors love to come to La Garde-Adhémar, a magnificent village where the living is very pleasant throughout the year. Its climate makes for hot summers and relatively cold winters.
Orange: The town was founded in 35 BCE by veterans of the Imperial Roman Army, and it soon became the capital of the region. It housed a Forum, a temple complex, a monumental arch, and of course, the theatre. Today, however, only the arch and the theatre remain. The town was eventually raised to the Principality of Orange in the 12th century, thereby creating the title of the Prince of Orange. That title comes from this small town in southern France. In addition to the theatre and the triumphal arch, there is also a Museum of Art and History and the Orange Cathedral.
Vaison-la-Romaine: The name makes its history clear, as "Romaine" means "Roman" in French! This town in Vaucluse indeed has a rich Roman heritage represented by the impressive remains of Villasse and Puymin. Covering fifteen or so hectares, the two sites are evidence of the scale and splendour of the ancient Gallo-Roman city of Vasio, forming France's biggest archaeological site!
Avignon: It's around a 40 Minutes drive to the center of Avignon. The city is of course well known for having been a residence of the Pope and the famous bridge. Plenty of charme and lot to discover in this famous city of the Provence.
Pont d'Arc: It will take around 45min to reach this fantastic roman bridge. A trip to this ancient site is always worth it and it's relaxing to spent some time in the park where it is located. Near by you will find plenty of vineyards and local vine producers as well.
Mont-Ventoux: Around 45 minutes away, this famous mountain of 1.909m height is an eye-catcher in the whole area. Every year the tour de France is passing by there and during the whole year it's worth to go to the top and admire the panorama it offers.
Saintes-Maries-De-La-Mer: It will take around 1h20min to reach this beautiful little town in the Camargue facing the Mediterranean Sea. For a day-trip to the seaside it's the ideal spot for relaxing at the beach, go for some horse riding in the Camargue and enjoy the nice beaches and the sea. A boat trip in the Rhône delta is a must.
